Chapter V: Bringing it to Life

In 2017, I was more interested in abstract art during my art lessons at college, I felt more comfortable using shapes, placing objects in obscure ways and using all kinds of mediums to create a final outcome. I include more elements of nature into my work as I admire researching different flowers and transforming my own bouquet into a sketch.

Storytelling and breaking down the piece one by one shows a lot of layers that some people may not find until later.

I enjoy creating art that I can gift to friends and family as it feels more personal. Picking the flowers that represent a friend or choosing the colours based from what a sibling has said in a conversation before. Even including different animals or elements from a book.

I’m looking forward to all the ideas I have planned and create more stories for people who are ready to explain their journey with me.

Example: The Refill Collective

The Refill Collective: A safe space for women to be heard and who have been struggling.

Brand Logo meaning: Femininity, support, strength.

Flowers included that represent the brand:

  • Roses

  • Orchids

  • Mimosas

Shapes behind the flowers:

One shape is flowing around the flowers, to me this brings a sense of consistency and gentle attachments with the group.
